COAST CITIES — The poetry of three North County students will be among that of 47 California students on exhibit through Jan. 20 at Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla. The students are the winners of the 2013 California Coastal Art & Poetry Contest for kindergarten-through-12th grade students, sponsored by the California Coastal Commission.First-grader Hugh Burnell received honorable mention for his poem “Hello, Ocean,” (inspired by North County author Pam Munoz-Ryan’s children’s book of the same name), as did Oceanside eighth-grader Hannah Prior for her poem, “Drowning,” and San Marcos sophomore Jordan Kaiser for “Monterey Bay.”
