Carlton Lund stands under the new Carlsbad sign — a 14-year-and-three-month passion project for Lund. The sign, weighing 25,000 pounds and spanning some 82-feet, was hoisted into place by a hydraulic crane on Monday night at the intersection of Carlsbad Boulevard and Carlsbad Village Drive. A formal lighting ceremony is slated for Jan. 8 at 5:30 p.m. Lund is hoping to have thousands of people come out for the lighting ceremony.
