Solatube tours
Students from Vista Community Clinic’s REACH program got a tour of Solatube International’s production of tubular daylighting devices at headquarters in Vista. REACH is a youth development after-school program that provides prevention education for at-risk teens ages 12 to 18 in Vista and Oceanside. Vista Community Clinic was founded in 1972 as a nonprofit healthcare clinic.
Junior golfers
A free event for golfers ages 4 to 12 at any skill level or want to learn to play golf, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 8 at Carlsbad Golf Center, 2711 Haymar Drive, Carlsbad. Volunteer applauded
Nov. 8, local resident Shari Sapp was named a “Volunteer of the Year” by the North County Philanthropy Council. She was nominated for the award by Pacific Ridge School in Carlsbad. Sapp has been a key volunteer for Pacific Ridge School since its founding in 2007. She was part of the school’s WASC Accreditation Team, has solicited grant awards for the school and helped to bring the Challenge Day program to Pacific Ridge. Sapp also coached her son’s Miracle League baseball team and runs a Christmas drive for a Mexican orphanage.

Dan Conway has opened a new real estate office for The Guiltinan Group, at 3860 Valley Centre Drive in Carmel Valley. Conway is a residential specialist and serves Carmel Valley, Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar, Solana Beach and the surrounding areas.

The Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth honored Maxwell Dawson, a Pacific Ridge student from Carlsbad, as a top student in the 2012 CTY Talent Search, for his exceptional performance as a middle school student on above-grade-level tests.

Innovation lauded
ImThera Medical, Inc. in Carmel Valley at 12555 High Bluff Drove, Suite 310, was awarded the Gold Electrode Award in the Best New Product category for the aura6000 Sleep Therapy System. The new system is a method of treatment for patients suffering from Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
Editors from the Neurotech Reports chose the aura6000 system for its proprietary targeted hypoglossal neurostimulation (THN) sleep therapy.
