Von’s parking lot shooting leaves one man dead

ESCONDIDO—A shooting in the Vons parking lot on West Felicita Ave. last night at about 8:20 p.m. has left one man dead and two others injured, according to the Escondido Police Department.

Miguel Pedroza Fuentes, a 35-year-old Escondido resident died at the hospital as a result of his injuries.His brother, 33-year-old Martin Fuentes was also taken to the hospital.

Wesley Smith, a 28-year-old Escondido resident who was with the brothers, is being treated at a local hospital.

The three men were sitting in a car in the Von’s parking lot when the shooter walked up. An argument ensued, according to a release from Lieutenant Eric Skaja, and rounds were fired into the car.

The shooter left on foot and is described as a Hispanic male between the ages of 18 and 20 years-old. He has multiple tattoos and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the shooting. He is currently unidentified and the Escondido Police Department is asking for people with information to call (760) 743-TIPS (8477).

Nobody else was injured, according to the Police Department.
