CARLSBAD—The Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation is an all-volunteer organization and needs volunteers for a wide variety of key positions in support of its programs and operations.
Some of these positions include Nature Center hosts, docents to lead public walks, a volunteer coordinator, newsletter editor, fundraising, marketing, trail maintenance and grant writers. Contact the Nature Center at (760) 931-0800 for more information.
Ongoing events at the lagoon include monthly trail maintenance the first and third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon, and a monthly bird count, at 7:30 a.m. the second Friday of each month.
For trail maintenance, volunteers meet at the Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation Nature Center at the end of Gabbiano Lane in Carlsbad, and for the monthly bird count, they meet at the Gabbiano Lane trail head. Take the Poinsettia Lane exit off of I-5 in Carlsbad and proceed east, making a right turn onto Batiquitos Drive. Gabbiano Lane is the first street on the right. Free parking is available. For more information, call (760) 931-0800 or visit batiquitosfoundation.org.
