OCEANSIDE — RoseMarie Reno, chairwoman of the Tri-City Healthcare District board of directors announced the district will award up to $300,000 in grants to nonprofit organizations seeking to improve the health and well being of residents of the Tri-City region.
Proposals are due March 6 and a grant workshop will be held at Tri-City Medical Center lower level meeting rooms at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 28. To be considered, agencies have to be located in or serve the residents of the cities of Carlsbad, Vista or Oceanside. Proposals must address health care access, health conditions related to lifestyle, obesity, physical activity and exercise, diabetes, heart disease or mental health. Excluded from consideration are other hospitals, hospital districts and government agencies.
For the Fiscal Year of 2009, approximately $100,000 of the total $300,000 will be awarded to one or more collaborative projects, each with two or more organizations working with each other and with Tri-City Medical Center to implement an innovative program. The remaining approximately $200,000 will be awarded to single organizations for their individual projects.
