OCEANSIDE — Back surgery takes another step forward at Tri-City Medical Center.The hospital has purchased its second spine robot from Mazor Robotics Ltd., a developer of innovative surgical robots and complementary products. It purchased its first Renaissance surgical system in February 2012. Superior surgical outcomes, and physician and patient demand for the technology prompted the need for a second system, said Chief Executive Officer Larry B. Anderson.
“Tri-City Medical Center remains on the cutting edge in embracing technology that advances the quality of care we provide to patients with back pain,” said Anderson, who championed the creation of the robotic spine program in March of 2012. “We continue to be the destination for spine care in Southern California and the Southwestern Region and we are excited to partner with Mazor in this endeavor.”
The systems will be used among four surgeons within Tri-City’s Orthopaedic and Spine Institute.
