CARLSBAD – One or more eastbound lanes of Palomar Airport Road, just east of El Camino Real, will be closed to traffic over the next several days as the city works to repair a leaking water pipeline. The far right hand lane, bike lane and sidewalk are currently closed to allow access for workers. Additional lane closures may be necessary, but access for eastbound traffic is expected to be maintained. The city’s goal is to keep at least two eastbound lanes open during peak traffic times. Westbound traffic on Palomar Airport Road is not affected.
The area affected is on eastbound Palomar Airport Road, approximately 300 feet east of El Camino Real. City staff were made aware of the leak last week and took immediate steps to identify the source and begin repairs. Water supplying the affected pipeline has been temporarily shut down to allow for repairs. Water service to local homes and businesses will not be affected.
The area includes a combination of newer PVC pipeline and older metal pipelines and connectors.
