COAST CITIES — Casa de Amparo, a San Diego County leader in the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect, held its 11th annual FORE the Casa Kids golf tournament Aug. 9, netting more than $63,000. The event was held at Maderas Golf Club in Poway.
“We are thrilled that the tournament was a sell-out,” said Committee Chairman Mark Allyn. “Proceeds from Casa de Amparo’s events make up a large part of the annual budget, so the generosity of those who participated will go a long way to support and enhance Casa’s programs for abused, neglected and at-risk Casa Kids.”
Tournament winners were Stan Boney, Chad Miller, Shon Boney and Brett Foulds representing Sprouts. First prize was a Polk Audio I-Sonic Entertainment Systems 2 donated by Directed Electronics and OneSource Distributors. Second prize was a Sony digital cameras donated by Sony Electronics.
A putting contest drew dozens of golfers vying for the chance to win $5,000 in the final round. Steven Demos of Harvest Time Produce and Brett Foulds of Sprouts were the lucky finalists but, although showing beautiful form, neither was able to sink the required hole-in-one 60-foot putt.
Caddie Connection donated the services of a professional caddie for each foursome. KPRI-FM was Media Partner for the event. Jade Cole of America’s Top Model made a special guest appearance presenting live auction items. Close to 50 volunteers helped prepare for and staff the event.
