CARLSBAD — Three bicyclists were struck by a 1998 Cadillac on Wednesday morning, according to the Carlsbad Police Department.
A 36-year-old Escondido man was arrested at the scene in the 2400 block of Carlsbad Boulevard. Alcohol or drugs is suspected to be involved in the collision, according to the press release.
The Carlsbad Fire Department provided medical treatment to the injured cyclists as one was transported to the hospital via helicopter, while the other two by ambulance.
The three were treated at Scripps La Jolla Hospital and their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
According to the release, the 36-year-old man was driving south on Carlsbad Boulevard and drove into the bicycle lane striking the three cyclists, who were also traveling south.
