Take the mystery out of mystery writing

OCEANSIDE — Author, screenwriter and lecturer Erica Miner will talk about writing mystery novel and her latest book, “Murder In the Pit,” at 2 p.m. Feb. 4, at the Oceanside Senior Center, 455 Country Club Lane.

Formerly a violinist with Metropolitan Opera, Miner studied writing and screenwriting in New York and Los Angeles. Her debut novel “Travels With My Lovers” won the Fiction Prize in the Direct from the Author Book Awards, and her screenplays have won awards in recognized competitions. Miner’s suspense thriller, “Murder In The Pit,” a novel of assassination and intrigue at the Metropolitan Opera, was released in 2010 and has won rave reviews across the country.
During her talk, Miner will present a glimpse into the world behind the golden curtain of the opera, and whys and wherefores of writing a mystery novel. After her presentation, she will have copies of her book available for purchase and signing.
