Suspects nabbed in Carlsbad home burglaries

On Dec. 2, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a resident in the 7000 block of Marsh Wren returned home and interrupted a burglary in her home, according a release from the Carlsbad Police Department. The resident confronted two of the suspects and they fled the home on foot. Officers, with the assistance of San Diego Sheriff’s ASTREA, located the juvenile in the area and detained him.
Further investigation led Carlsbad Detectives to a hotel in Oceanside, where the other three suspects were arrested without incident. It was later discovered that the group had burglarized one other home on Marsh Wren prior to being discovered and that the three had fled the area of the burglaries in a vehicle.
At that hotel, detectives located some of the property taken from the Marsh Wren burglaries. On Dec. 3, detectives contacted the victims of the Marsh Wren burglaries and returned some of the stolen property.
Detectives believe that these suspects are probably responsible for other similar crimes in Carlsbad and will be reviewing those cases to determine if property recovered belongs to other victims.
All suspects apprehended were North County residents.
