Spa and Sports Retreat celebrates opening

RANCHO SANTA FE — Nearly a year after construction began, Morgan Run Club and Resort held a ribbon cutting ceremony Nov. 22 to celebrate the completion of its new Spa and Sports Retreat. More than 350 members and invited guests attended an Open House to have a first look at the new facilities. Judging from the reaction from those attending, everyone came away impressed.
“It’s just a great facility and it’s an honor to be here,” Nancy Wasko, representing the San Diego Coastal Chamber of Commerce, said. Wasko was on hand to help with the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Jim MacDonough, general manager of Morgan Run Club and Resort, addressed the crowd prior to the ceremony. “It’s been a long process getting this new retreat in place,” he said. “It’s taken six years. When we first proposed it, we were approved for a $6.5 million facility. Then the parent company sold. We weren’t sure what was going to happen, but the new company, KSL Partners, stepped up to the plate and approved the project for $8.5 million. And here we are today.”
The retreat includes a heated swimming pool, a lap pool, a Jacuzzi and a children’s pool. Inside, there is a state-of-the-art fitness center that offers weight and resistance training equipment. A luxurious spa offers specialty treatments such as Hot Stone, Trigger Point and Deep Tissue Massage. Facial treatments and a variety of other services including manicures and pedicures; waxing; body scrubs; self-tanning; and hand, foot and scalp treatments are also available.
According to MacDonough, planning the new retreat involved input from club members. “We did surveys and asked for your help and here it is,” he said at the grand opening ceremonies.
