OCEANSIDE — The community is invited to the “Celebration of Junior Seau’s Life” in connection with his alma mater, Oceanside High School, as part of the Oceanside International Film Festival’s opening evening from 2 to 6 p.m. Aug. 3. The eight-day festival’s grand opening ceremony will take place at Star Theatre, 402 N. Coast Highway.
Pat and Glenda Kimbrel will address the audience on behalf of Oceanside High School Alumni And Foundation, followed by a screening of documentary “The Legacy of Oceanside High School” by KOCT, which includes interviews with Seau. The history of OHS, the oldest high school in North County, stretches for more than 100 years. In 1906 it opened under the name of Oceanside-Carlsbad High School with 20 students in the two upstairs rooms of the existing grammar school on the present site of Oceanside High School.

The OHS Foundation manages and maintains the Oceanside High School Hall of Fame recognizing past Oceanside High School graduates and their local, national and/or international accomplishments. Its ninth annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place in October.
