Scalice Foundation supports arts in Encinitas

ENCINITAS — A partnership between the city of Encinitas Arts Division and the Betty Scalice Foundation has been the impetus for the new Scalice Foundation Family Series at the Encinitas Library. The Betty Scalice Foundation is a fund of the Coastal Community Foundation.Five free programs, ideal for children and their families, were presented in November and December with the final concert, a sing-along and a

hands-on guitar and ukulele concert sharing holiday cheer through music at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Dec. 22, at the Encinitas Library, 540 Cornish Drive.

“This new family series will be a great addition to the programs offered at the Encinitas Library. We want to thank the Betty Scalice Foundation for this gift to the community,” said Mayor Teresa Arballo Barth.

Each program included music and other art forms such as a sing-along, theater and dance, and feature outstanding children and adult performers from Encinitas and greater San Diego.

“As a child Betty loved music and singing and through her fund, wanted to give back to the community she loved,” said Sharon Omahen, executive director of the Coastal Community Foundation. For more information, visit CoastalFoundation.org.
