Ribbons galore, Dad’s Night and more for Horizon Prep students

RANCHO SANTA FE — At the Association of Christian Schools, or ACSI, Regional Competitions on May 15, students from Horizon Prep proudly walked away with multiple ribbons and certificates. Teachers, staff and especially parents were very proud of the accomplishments.
At the ACSI Regional Writing Festival, 10 students were awarded rankings of Superior, Excellent and Good; their works will now be considered for publication along with other winners.
At the ACSI Regional Math Olympics, nine Horizon Prep students placed among all the students from the 10 other participating schools. “I’ve taken other schools in years past and had no one place at all, so for so many students to place is unheard of,” Vanessa Roy, the Horizon Prep fifth grade teacher and Math Olympics Coordinator said.
At the ACSI Regional Speech Meet, 14 Horizon Prep students received Superior Ribbons, 18 received Excellent Ribbons and three Good Ribbons.
Proud papas gathered May 21 to celebrate these festivities and other student accomplishments at Dad’s Night. Students did a special performance just for their dads, which was followed by a speech by guest speaker Andy Albrecht, Horizon Christian Fellowship Men’s Leader. It was fun and games at the annual event, but best of all, there was plenty of pizza for everyone.
