RBV pitcher signs with college

VISTA — Rancho Buena Vista right-handed pitcher/first baseman Kurt Hibert has committed to play next year at University of North Carolina at Asheville. Less than 2 percent of high school seniors sign with a NCAA Division I school to play baseball. The 6 foot 2 inch, 225-pound senior signed a letter of intent Nov. 12 committing to play baseball for the Bulldogs. Hibert considered several colleges, but the UNCA campus was the best fit for him.
“I really liked the coaches and their baseball philosophy,” Hibert said. “The Bulldogs play a tough schedule against some of the top teams in the country.”
Hibert recently played for the Under Armour National team in Arizona at the Senior Fall Classic. Based on his performance, he was selected to play in the Under Armour Pre-Season All America Tournament in Tucson in January.
