RANCHO SANTA FE — Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County will be awarding Rick Valencia, of Rancho Santa Fe, with the 2008 Man of the Year award at the 46th annual dinner, at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla, 3777 La Jolla Village Drive.
Big Brothers Big Sisters’ signature event entertains more than 600 of San Diego’s business and community leaders while honoring this year’s Man of the Year. Valencia is the chief executive officer of ProfitLine, the former BBBS of SDC board president and has served on the board for more than 12 years. In 2006, the number of mentoring matches grew by more than 50 percent under Valencia’s board leadership.
The event will offer a cocktail hour and dinner with a program emceed by Ted Leitner with assistance from the Charger Girls, Other festivities include prize drawings, an auction, and an after-party with cigars, brandy, and desserts.
The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County is to improve the lives of children by creating and supporting one-to-one mentoring relationships with proven results. Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County will provided mentors to more than 1,400 children last year.
