Ranch artist’s creations adorn NASCAR offices

RANCHO SANTA FE — Rancho Santa Fe artist Steve Maloney has loaned 15 works from his “This Is Where The Rubber Meets The Road” series to the new NASCAR corporate headquarters.
The wall-mounted and sculptural works created from actual NASCAR sheet metal adorn the racing organization’s new office buildings in Daytona Beach and Charlotte, N.C. The former is located directly across from the Daytona International Speedway; the latter is adjacent to the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
“NASCAR is honored to be able to display the racing inspired contemporary art in our offices,” Ed Bennett, NASCAR vice president, said. “It is a daily reminder of our sport and the beauty of racing. We are grateful to Steve for allowing us to share the NASCAR art with our employees and many visitors.”
The works are on loan to NASCAR from Maloney, who has been an avid follower of auto racing and occasional amateur racer since the 1960s. Maloney envisioned “This Is Where The Rubber Meets The Road” to portray the speed, danger and audacity of the sport through mixed-media presentations of dinged, dented and shredded car parts.
Maloney has long created art that celebrates the American spirit, and often displays works in locations that add to their impact. For more information about Steve Maloney, call (858) 756-4088 or visit www.SteveMaloney.com
