Purim Carnival, Jewish Food and Culture Festival

CARDIFF-BY-THE-SEA — This year, Temple Solel has expanded its annual Purim Carnival from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 20 into a Purim Carnival and Jewish Food and Culture Festival at 3575 Manchester Ave. The expanded festival will offer games and rides, ethnic food and entertainment and a variety of wares sold by local vendors.
Parking is available just south of the Temple at MiraCosta College with free shuttles to the temple.
Rides will include a ferris wheel, a 52-foot obstacle course, an 18-foot mini slide, a train, a velcro wall and a bounce house for children under 4 as well as one for children ages 5 to 8. There will be sports-oriented games, such as soccer kick, football throw and baseball hit plus classic carnival games, such as fish bowl toss, frog launch and bean bag toss. There will also be the old favorites, such as the cake walk and the beanie baby walk.
The festival will offer assorted food choices: pizza from Flippin’ Pizza, kosher chicken and lamb plates from Rotisserie Chicken, kosher hot dogs, Middle Eastern food from Roxy’s Café and Jewish bakery items.
Musical entertainment will be provided by J Company on the Town, San Diego Jewish Academy’s Music Department, Temple Solel’s Choir, Craig Parks and Cantor Billy Tiep. There will also be Israeli dancing and Krav Maga Israeli martial arts instruction by MMA Academy. Also new this year will be camel petting and photos, sponsored by Temple Solel’s Israeli Action Committee.
