Police academy to host motorcycle rally

SAN MARCOS — Palomar College Police Academy Class 19, in conjunction with the Hallowed Few Motorcycle Club, will host the seventh annual Officer Down Motorcycle Rally on May 15. The rally is in honor of Border Patrol Agent Robert Widmer Rosas, who was killed in the line of duty July 23, 2009, near Campo, Calif.
The event will include a scenic ride, raffle prizes, barbecue, live music and entertainment, and a memorial ride pin for all participants. The cost is $20 per rider or $30 for a “two-up.” All proceeds will go to the trust fund for the Rosas family.
All rally events will begin at the Palomar College Public Safety Training Center, located at 182 Santar Place in San Marcos. Registration begins at 8 a.m., with the ride beginning at 9 a.m. An after party will begin at noon. The event will be held rain or shine.
The Palomar College Police Academy has been dedicating each class to a fallen officer since 2005. To date, the police academy has raised and donated more than $100,000 for the children and families of these fallen heroes.
