Pianist to collaborate with dancers

SAN MARCOS — Known for his innovative music programming, pianist Peter Gach will present “Labyrinth of the Heart” in collaboration with the d’shire dance collective. This presentation is part of Gach’s ongoing artist-in-residence series at the Palomar College Howard Brubeck Theatre. There will be one performance only at 8 p.m. Jan. 31.
“Labyrinth of the Heart” is described by Gach as a “multimedia exploration of love” and will blend live music and dance with film in various combinations. Music from composers Gabriel Fauré and Karol Szymanowski will be included, as well as a world premiere of “The Taconic” by Robert Savage.
“These media, singly and together, are the perfect way to explore this thing called love,” Gach said.
Of particular note to the production is the inclusion of several Palomar College faculty and alumni contributors: Faculty soprano Mary Jaeb, d’shire dance collective choreographers Deven P. Brawley and Erica Buechner, and film artist Melissa Martine all honed their skills as Palomar College students.
“I love the idea of welcoming back some of our outstanding former students,” Gach said. “For me, it’s like homecoming. I’m very proud of the fact that we here at Palomar had a hand in what they’ve accomplished as professionals.”
Tickets for “Labyrinth of the Heart” are $12 general, $10 for seniors/staff and $8 for students. Advance purchases can be made online at www.palomarperforms.com, or by calling the box office at (760) 744-1150, ext. 2453.
The Howard Brubeck Theatre is located at 1140 W. Mission Road on the Palomar College campus in San Marcos.
