CARLSBAD — The Optimist Club of Carlsbad, “The Achievers,” will host a book and authors’ booth at Grand Street and Carlsbad Boulevard during the upcoming Carlsbad Street Fair on May 1.
Generous local authors are willing to support the club by donating their books and making a personal appearance during the Buy A Book, Help A Child event. That day, all books at the booth, regardless of cover price, will sell for $10 each. This year the club will be selling books to raise funds for the host of service projects the club plans each year, to “bring out the best” in young people in their local communities.
Visitors will be able to meet and chat with several authors who will be there throughout the day to meet and greet and sign autographs. Sarita Maybin author of “If you Can‘t Something Nice, What do you Say?” will start the day at 9 a.m., with Eileen McDargh, author of “Gifts from the Mountain,” at 10 a.m., “Exceptional Accomplishment,” author Jodi Walker at 11 a.m. with Jan McInnis, author of “Finding the Funny Fast,” at 1 p.m. and Sheryl Roush, author of “Heart of a Mother,” at 2 p.m.
In addition, there will be a special musical performance by Dr. Hope and Russ T. Nailz at noon.
