Officer killed in the line of duty

SAN DIEGO — Nbcsandiego.com reports that a veteran police officer was died Oct. 28 from gunshot wounds suffered while serving a warrant.
Seventeen-year San Diego police Officer Chris Wilson died from wounds suffered in a shootout with suspects in an apartment in the Skyline area the evening of Oct. 27.
Mayor Jerry Sanders said, “You always knew Officer Wilson had your back.” The mayor described the 50-year-old officer as popular, funny, bright and a consummate professional.
Wilson, a father of two, was rushed to Scripps Mercy Hospital where hospital staff kept him alive long enough to allow his family to get there in time to say goodbye according to Chief Lansdowne.
Funeral arrangements will be made at a later date, according to a police union spokesperson.
