OCEANSIDE — A sign that summer is almost over is the final Concert in the Park that was held Aug. 13 at Rancho Del Oro Park. The night of classic rock ‘n’ roll and soulful Motown hits was the second of two free concerts put on by Parks and Recreation Department and the Arts Commission.
Tri-tip steak, hot dogs and kettle corn were for sale and music was geared for family fun. The Damsels in Dis-Dress, Ms. Patricia Livingston and Mr. Clarence Webb brought the crowd to their feet with energizing dance tunes.
“It’s entertainment for
the whole family, from 6-year-olds to 99-year-olds,” Karen Williams-Graham, Arts Commission entertainment coordinator, said.
“Our whole neighborhood comes every year,” Dana Jacobe said.
Family-friendly vibes resonated on and off
the stage. Singer Patricia Livingston’s 7-year-old grandson, Christian Terrell, stayed by the consummate singer’s side throughout the performance and took to the stage to drum a song with the band.
Livingston has worked in Motown, performed at top night clubs and written songs for the likes of Jermaine Jackson and Gladys Knight. “She is an entertainer stylist,” Williams-Graham said. “She sings songs her style, her way.”
“Pat Livingston is the diva of showmanship,” Williams-Graham added. “She gets the audience invovled in her performance.”
By the crowd’s reaction to his drum solo, Livingston’s grandson is following close in her footsteps.
