North County Greenpeace rally calls for green jobs

COAST CITIES — Members of Greenpeace rallied Sept. 27 outside the UCSD Gilman parking structure, which features solar panels to generate renewable energy, to highlight the campus’s commitment to sustainable energy and reducing global warming pollution. The group calls on America’s leaders to invest in solutions that will fight global warming and create green jobs.
The rally also featured members of the Carlsbad High School Alternative Energy Organization. The event was organized by the North County Greenpeace group to call on Brian Bilbray and Nick Leibham to support green jobs and a renewable energy economy, UCSD’s local efforts are symbolic of a larger, national demand for a renewable energy economy. The event was one of hundreds being held across the country on the same day. At the rally, the group asked voters to call Bilbray and Leibham’s offices to ask for support of green jobs.
