New Year’s Eve celebrations abound

ENCINITAS — A non-denominational New Year’s Eve “Burning Bowl” Ceremony to burn and release the old and welcome in the new will be held from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Dec. 31 at Seaside Center for Spiritual Living, 1613 Lake Drive in Encinitas, next to the Cardiff Sports Park. The event is free, and donations are welcome. All are invited and no advance sign-ups are necessary.The Encinitas Elks Lodge, No. 2243 will be hosting a 6 p.m. prime rib and/or pasta dinner, with music and dancing, and a four-time-zone toast Dec. 31 New Year’s Eve party this year. To benefit mental health, come to the Sand and Sea Ball on New Year’s Eve (black-tie optional) for a rocking good time at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina on Harbor Island Drive. The annual Sand and Sea Ball kicks off at 7 p.m. and features a gourmet meal and an 11-person band. Tickets are $175 a person at Proceeds benefit Health America (MHA) and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI San Diego). New Year’s Eve revelers will have opportunities galore to ring in 2013 at Pala Casino Spa & Resort. The big party will be in Infinity at 9 p.m. and will be hosted by Pop Vinyl. Tickets are $25 per person, with no service charge and can be purchased at the Pala box office in the casino or by calling (877) 946-7252. For New Year’s Eve diners, Pala’s chefs at seven of its restaurants have created special menus. Choices, The Buffet will serve dinner from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. for $36 per person. Regular Pala Privileges card members and one guest will receive a 20 percent discount and may enjoy dinner for $28.80 per person; Gold level cardholders and one guest will receive a 30 percent discount and pay $25.20 per person; Platinum members and a guest will receive a 50 percent discount and pay $18 per person, and Elite members and one guest are free. The Oak Room will offer a New Year’s Eve menu for $109 per person from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Dinner in the Oak Room also includes a New Year’s Eve Party in the Pala Events Center starting at 10 p.m.

Mama’s Cucina Italiana will offer dinner from Mama’s kitchen for $59 person from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. or for $32.95 per person at the Pala Café. At Sushi Sake, Pala’s, dinner will be $39.95 per person. For $29.95 per person, Amigo’s Mexican Restaurant will offer dinner and for $19.95 per person at the Pala Deli.
