New Women’s Health Center opens

SAN MARCOS — North County Health Services, a 501(c)(3) Federally Qualified Health Center, will celebrate the grand opening for its new women’s health center from 4 to 5:30 p.m., June 5 at the NCHS San Marcos Health Center, 150 Valpreda Road.

The new women’s health center grew from 3,593-square-feet to 5,284-square-feet and will offer a more comprehensive set of services for patients, including its specialized program for gestational diabetes. NCHS has also centralized women’s health services in San Marcos by moving services from its Grand Avenue location to the central San Marcos center. The facility doubles patient capacity, allowing NCHS to provide adequate space to provide quality care to the women in diverse communities.

The project began construction in November 2013 and opened for services on April 23. Recently, NCHS received a grant from Las Patronas to fully furnish the new center’s waiting room, including chairs, end tables and a children’s activity table.

“We are very excited to welcome our community to our new women’s health center,” director of Women’s Health Services Operations Christina Schmidt said. “There is a symbolic relationship between this state-of-the-art health center, our quality care and exceptional staff. Our patients deserve the very best and from the moment they walk into our facility, they will see the high standard of care NCHS Women’s Health provides.”
