COAST CITIES — MiraCosta College’s Public Information Office has been awarded five Medallion Awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations. The District 6 Medallion Award competition is open to all community and technical colleges in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Utah, Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of Palau, Republic of the Marshall Islands and Territory of Guam. The awards were announced last month at the conclusion of the NCMPR regional conference.
MiraCosta College was awarded the following:
— Gold, Newsletter, Transforming Lives, MiraCosta Foundation Magazine
— Gold, Newsletter, The Mirror, MiraCosta High School Recruitment Magazine
— Gold, Class Schedule, Fall 2010
— Silver, Invitation, Concert Hall Grand Opening
— Bronze, Legislative Relations, SDICCCA College Directory
Of the two gold awards for the newsletters, MiraCosta Marketing Director Cheryl Broom was thrilled to hear that the college tied with itself for first place. Judges were impressed with the quality of the Transforming Lives newsletter, saying, “Well done. The front cover and overall layout is classic and really reflected MiraCosta.”
Of the Mirror, one judged commented, “All of the visuals make me want to read this newsletter. The content is great for current students, prospective students and alumni. Well done.”
The college schedule of classes won a gold this year, improving on last year’s second place win. “Great design!” commented one judge. “The pages in green, the flowcharts, and the soft colors make this schedule very appealing and accessible to students.”
“These awards were the result of the hard work of a number of talented individuals representing the college’s Public Information Office, the Foundation and the Student Services and Instructional divisions,” Broom said. “We are pleased with the awards and proud that MiraCosta College was recognized for its strength in creating unique, beautiful and effective marketing pieces.”
