MiraCosta brings art to life

OCEANSIDE — MiraCosta College’s Kruglak Gallery announced the opening of an exhibit featuring paintings and drawings by Tim Lowly. “From Life” is slated for Oct. 9 to Oct. 30 in the gallery, located in the MiraCosta College Student Center, 1 Barnard Drive.
A talk by the artist will be held at 4 p.m. Oct. 8, and an artist’s reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 9. Admission is free.
“The phrase ‘from life’ is a loaded one,” Lowly said. “Conventionally, in relation to making art, this term refers to the practice of making a work of art from direct observation of a subject: a model is drawn by a group of students in order to attain greater knowledge of anatomy and accurate proportion.”
