MiraCosta boasts strong basketball season

OCEANSIDE — The MiraCosta Community College men’s basketball team finished the season with a 14–13 record and a third-place finish in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference.

All-Conference players honored were Buddha Boyd (first team), Donny Punter (first team), and Fareed Ahmed (second team). Five sophomores were chosen for the March 14 sophomore showcase, an exposure event to assist the students in finding colleges to continue their education and basketball careers.
The college’s women’s basketball team finished the year with strong efforts against Mt. San Jacinto College and San Diego City College. Brogan Griffin was named to the All-Conference team.
Fourteen student athletes will make up the roster in the inaugural season of women’s sand volleyball. These student athletes are pioneers, as this is the first season that the California Community College Athletic Association has sanctioned the sport. Home matches will be hosted at Frazee Beach at 3150 Oceanside St., Carlsbad. The team opened play March 6, by defeating two Los Angeles colleges.
