Memorial fundraiser set for Justin Nonu

OCEANSIDE — Dan Armentrout, head of the San Luis Rey Athletic Association, announced that a Justin Nonu Memorial Fund has been established at the San Luis Rey branch of Bank of America, 3756 Mission Ave.
Nonu was shot in the chest and killed while sitting with friends May 21 at an Oceanside home in the 1700 block of Kraft Street. Police believe the shooter was across the street. The suspect was described only as wearing dark -colored clothing and fled west on Kraft Street. Nonu was a standout football player who graduated from Oceanside High School in 2006 and attended the University of Colorado.
According to Oceanside Police, Nonu was not in a gang, and the motive is still under investigation. Any person with information is asked to call San Diego County Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477.
Donations may be made by going to any Bank of America and advising that you wish to make a donation by referencing Nonu’s name. All proceeds will be use for expenses related to hiss burial and any remaining proceeds will be given to his mother.
On May 28 at Oceanside High School a “donation drop off” was also held for “The Justin Nonu Memorial Fund.” On May 29, at Oceanside High School there will be a “Stop the Violence” potluck barbecue for $10 per person with all proceeds to benefit Justin Nonu’s family.
