Man drives car through parking lot

ENCINITAS — At about 9 a.m., Friday, a male driver approximately 77-years-old, drove his four-door sedan out of the parking lot of a strip mall at 191 N. El Camino Real, nosing the front of his car off a ledge and onto the sidewalk.The man was entering the parking lot and inadvertently hit the gas pedal instead of the brake, according to Sheriff Deputy Matthew Carpenter.No injuries were reported and the car was eventually lowered and towed for repairs. No alcohol was suspected and no tickets were issued.
