Rancho Encinitas Academy K/1 teacher, Alison Frank, joins her students in celebrating International Peace Day Sept. 21 by making “Pinwheels for Peace,” under the direction of their art teacher, Debbie Schaefer. It is estimated that three million pinwheels were spinning in countries around the world on that day. The International Day of Peace was established by a United Nations resolution in 1981 to coincide with the opening of the General Assembly. The first Peace Day was celebrated in September 1982.
