MAEGA raises scholarship money

SOLANA BEACH — The Mexican American Educational Guidance Association (MAEGA) will host the annual Don Lapham dinner from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at Tony’s Jacal, 621 Valley Ave. Cost of the fundraising dinner is $20.MAEGA was founded in 1970 by the late Donald C. Lapham, then publisher of the San Dieguito Citizen, along with Michael Breen, superintendent of Solana Beach Elementary School District; Catalina Gonzales, owner of Tony’s Jacal and Dr. George Kirby, then-superintendent of San Dieguito Union High School District.

The Don Lapham Memorial fundraising dinner honors the founding member and seeks to raise funds to provide scholarships to Latino high school seniors in the San Dieguito School District.
