NORTH COUNTY — Team Four Wheel Drive from the Carlsbad Education Foundation took home the championship trophy in the For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology, or FIRST, Lego League Cup held at Legoland Dec. 6. Team Four Wheel Drive was one of 52 teams of 9- to 14-year-olds to compete in this high-energy robotics competition. Teams from Encinitas, Laguna Beach, LaVerne, Palm Desert, Poway, Ramona, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Westlake Village were also honored.
A second place in Robot Design awards went to Calavera Laser Storm from the Carlsbad Education Foundation. Other winners include the Brick Bots from La Costa Heights Elementary in Carlsbad won the Rising Star Award.
