Local punk rockers give back to the community

LEUCADIA — The second annual Thanksgiving Punk Rock Food Drive will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Nov. 6 at Bar Leucadian, 1542 N. Coast Highway 101. The Thanksgiving Punk Rock Food Drive benefits North County Community Services and is presented by The Coast News Group.
The event features live performances by Black Seven, Sic Waiting, Generator (A tribute to Bad Religion), Nuthin Speshl, G.F.I., The Leperkhans, The Walking Toxins, The Tractor Men, The Go Shelias and Trouble in the Wind. The show is for those 21-years and older. Admission is free with the donation of two canned or non-perishable food items. There will be drink specials from Cabo Wabo, prizes and giveaways from T.U.K. Shoes, Zildjian, Loser Machine, DGK Skateboards, American Tattoo and more. Punk Rock Food Drive currently holds two collection events annually and was organized by Black Seven’s Daniel Hernandez, Chris Mazzola, Jason York and Ron Q. Their mission is to offer resources and inspiration for musicians, artists and community organizers to help provide nourishment, dignity and comfort to the less fortunate members of the community. Last year’s Thanksgiving event resulted in food and cash donations resulting in more than 700 meals, being donated to North County Community Services. “We have been so grateful to the companies and our local community for their generosity in making our first PRFD a rousing success. We feel a deep sense of commitment to giving to those among us less fortunate and are encouraged that others share our vision,” said singer Daniel Hernandez.
