Vote Petrek and Walton for school board
Jay Petrek and I have had the opportunity to work together in several volunteer roles. Jay has distinguished himself repeatedly as the “go-to guy” when something needs to get done as he demonstrated effectively in his previous, too-brief tenure as a school board trustee.
Jay is a tireless, hardworking, active and engaged parent who will once again be an invaluable asset to the San Marcos Unified School District board. Jay Petrek’s interest is the continued improvement of the district and its students. He is beholden to no group, union or political party.
Randy Walton has impressed me as a community leader and a common-sense problem solver. His work as a volunteer and advocate has shown him to be thoughtful, articulate and conversant with what is important to his neighbors. An attorney and an active parent of school-age children, Randy appreciates the importance of high-quality public education.
Randy strongly believes the role of public education is to give children the very best education possible while giving taxpayers the best value for their investment. His commitment to the students, parents, and teachers of SMUSD is evidenced in his having paid visits to every campus in the system, talking with teachers, administrators, students and parents about what is important to them.
Randy Walton cares about the legacy we leave our future generations, and will work to continue SMUSD’s march to excellence. Randy’s help in securing a $6 million dollar grant for the PACE Promise ensured a program to provide a college education for all qualifying district students would become a reality. Randy Walton would be an excellent, engaged member of the SMUSD Board.
I urge all SMUSD voters who value consistent, steady leadership, without the agendas of petty partisan politics to vote for Jay Petrek and Randy Walton on Nov. 4.

Vote for progress in education
Vote for Randy Walton and Jay Petrek for the San Marcos Unified School District board. Both men are highly successful professionals who will be able to accomplish the district’s visions and goals for the future. Public education is facing challenging times. We need leaders like Walton and Petrek who are not biased and insular, but who will dedicate themselves to forming collaborative relationships. They will ensure that all aspects of our local educational system functions at the highest level possible. Their primary focus will be raising student achievement and involving the community in the attainment of that goal. Elect Walton and Petrek for an effective school board that will accomplish, and not thwart, progress for public education.

Parent and teacher supports Petrek
Please join me in supporting Jay Petrek for San Marcos school board. I have known Jay for over 10 years. Everything he does is in the best interest of the students in our community, from working on the school parent clubs, coaching sports, volunteering in classrooms, and just helping neighbors and friends. There is no better person to serve our community and he has my full support as a parent and as a teacher.

Petrek ‘a man of his word’
If you value the quality of your child’s education and have any question as to who can provide the guidance and principled character to ensure the future leadership of the San Marcos School District, vote for Jay Petrek. Jay is a man of integrity and has proven his devotion to the children in our district by volunteering his time and talents in many ways.
I have personally known Jay nearly eight years and have consistently found him to be a man of his word, deeply committed to his family and the youth of our community. He is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure the good of our schools and the North County area come first. His strong work ethic, willingness to be involved with the programs of our children and expertise in community planning and dealing with governmental bodies give him an edge over his competitors. He deserves to hold a place on our school board and represent the interests of our kids in their educational, physical and social development. He will serve us well.
