‘Jazz in the Parks’ concert series returns to Carlsbad

CARLSBAD — Starting June 24, Carlsbad’s “TGIF Jazz in the Parks” free outdoor concert series will return for its 26th season. The concerts are presented by the city’s Cultural Arts Office and produced by On the Other Side Productions, Inc.
The concerts, which run through Aug. 19, will feature eight new bands and one encore performer, playing music from the blues to New Orleans funk to reggae. Each of the shows begins at 6 p.m. and will take place in one of three parks in the community, with the first site at Baseball Field No.1 in Stagecoach Park.
Patrons are urged to bring low-back beach chairs or blankets to sit on. Long-sleeved shirts, long pants and insect repellent are recommended. Many patrons bring picnics; light refreshments are also available for sale.
The use of bikes, skateboards, skates and roller blades is not allowed in the parks during concerts. Smoking, pets and personal barbecue grills are not allowed in city parks by municipal ordinance.
