Jazz gives jumping background to art show

OCEANSIDE — Live at The Brooks! presents an evening of Jazz & Art with Blue Chunks at the historic Brooks Theatre at 217 N. Coast Highway, for a one-night only Oct. 12. The lobby doors will open for happy hour and gallery viewing at 6:30 p.m. with the show at 7:30 p.m.General admission is $25 with a VIP package for $75. With Kamau Kenyatta on piano, Troy Jennings on saxophone, Curtis Taylor on trumpet, Scott Gressitt on bass and Richard Sellers on drums, the theater will fill with funky renditions of jazz standards. The lobby plays host to a gallery of original artwork. Special guests include Boaz and Avalon Roberts on guitar and vocals.

Proceeds from the event will support Oceanside Theatre Company, promoting artistic endeavors throughout North San Diego County, and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, which provides a “home away from home” for families with children being treated for serious and life-threatening conditions at local hospitals.
