ENCINITAS — The San Diego Italian Film Festival returns to the North County, bringing six films from recent Italian cinema. The April selections are in Italian with English subtitles, will be shown at 7 p.m. April 13, April 18 and April 25 at La Paloma Theatre, 471 S. Coast Highway 101, Encinitas. Three additional films will come to La Paloma in July.Cash-only tickets at the door are $10 or $5 for students and military. The April line-up of films includes:
— April 13, “Si puo fare” (“We Can Do That”) 2008, Troublemaker, Nello, works miracles overseeing potentially creative mentally ill patients.
— April 18, “Benvenuti al Sud” (“Welcome to the South”) 2010, a comedy about a postal worker transferred to southern Italy.
— April 25, “Passione” (“Passion”) 2010, a love story set in Naples.
The July line-up of movies includes:
— July 11, Rosso come il cielo (Red Like the Sky) 2006, the true story of Mirco Mencacci, a gifted Italian sound editor, who happens to be blind.
— July 20, “Mine Vaganti” (“Loose Cannons”) 2010, tales of life in a large extended Italian family.
— July 25, “Terraferma” 2010, a close-up of life in Sicily.
