Grand Spring Festival expected to draw large crowd

SAN MARCOS — The San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the city of San Marcos, will present the San Marcos Grand Spring Festival on April 3.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Via Vera Cruz between Grand Avenue and San Marcos Boulevard in San Marcos, and is expected to draw 250 vendors and 30,000 attendees.
This year’s Swing Into Spring baseball theme is supported by the San Diego Padres with guest appearances from former Padre and 1976 Cy Young Award Winner Randy Jones and the Padres Friar and Pad Squad. Other event highlights include two stages of entertainment, a beer garden with local brews from Stone Brewery, the San Marcos Brewery and Markstein Beverages, and wines from California Fruit Wines and Vinavanti Wines. Carnival rides will be available for children along with food and craft vendors.
There will also be a variety of musical entertainment for everyone’s tastes.
Magic and comedy will be flowing in the beer garden with Smoothini the Ghetto Houdini.
Sponsoring the festival are Palomar Water, Cox Communications, city of San Marcos, EDCO Waste and Recycling, Grand Plaza and Nordahl Marketplace, Markstein Beverage Company and The San Diego Padres.
