Flying into history

CARLSBAD — History buffs, veterans and youngsters have the chance to view some of the most iconic planes from World War II at the McClellan-Palomar Airport through Sunday.

The Collings Foundation has flown in four planes that helped shape the outcome of the war — from a P-51 Mustang to a B-17 Flying Fortress. The event also allows patrons an opportunity to fly in the planes.
