Encinitas, mark your calendars

ENCINITAS — Mark your new year calendars now for the upcoming Encinitas State of the City event from 7 to 9 p.m. March 26 to be held at the Community Center, 1140 Oakcrest Park Drive. The goal of the event is to invite and welcome the entire community, with presentations by several members of city government and entertainment.
Mayor Dan Dalager will speak on where Encinitas is and what it plans to achieve in 2010 and beyond. The Deputy Sheriff of the Year and Firefighter of the Year will be announced along with celebrating the Encinitas Citizen of the Year and outstanding Encinitas and San Dieguito district school leaders.
To lighten the prospect of ponderous city business, there are plans to have a magician and a ventriloquist comedian performing, as well.
If you’d like to start the new year by being more involved in your city and its workings, the city and the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce are seeking sponsors and volunteers to help promote the event. Specific details and the invitations will be posted very shortly on the city’s almost-ready new Web site and other media outlets.
“Be part of the chamber and the city and enjoy a fun-filled night,” said Marshall Weinreb, chief executive officer of the Encinitas Chamber of Commerce.
