Encinitas’ homeless teens need your help

ENCINITAS — The City of Encinitas’ Youth Commission is pleased to announce its 2012 Teen Backpack Project.

This project gives the Encinitas community a chance to come together and help homeless teens.

They are seeking backpacks to give to homeless, transitionally homeless, displaced, or at-risk teens. The goal is to provide the Community Resource Center with 50 backpacks filled with essentials and other items teens might find useful. Backpacks and supplies will be collected at various drop-off locations around the city including City Hall, Encinitas Library, Cardiff Library, Encinitas Community Center, and Encinitas Fire Stations from Nov. 5 through Dec. 7.

Your donation of a new or unused backpack, toiletries, school supplies, gift cards, package snacks and reusable water bottles will greatly help out a homeless teenager in our community. This is your opportunity to pay it forward!

For more information regarding the Teen Backpack Project please contact Vicki Rubenstein, Recreation Supervisor with the City of Encinitas at (760) 633-2758.
