ENCINITAS — The Encinitas Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, has recently received two grants to assist in keeping the organization supplied and prepared.
The first grant is for assistance in funding an emergency/disaster trailer purchase including supplies, and the second a SEMPRA Energy grant to provide emergency communication equipment.
The trailer will be furnished with emergency supplies and be used in training Encinitas CERT members as well. The trailer grant is funded in part by the city of Encinitas and Mizel Foundation Community Grant program.
The Encinitas CERT team fall October training academy is now accepting applications. The academy is still free to Encinitas residents, trained by the Encinitas Fire Department culminating in a final exercise in November 2009. Encinitas CERT Inc. is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) and can accept donations through its Web site, EncinitasCERT.org.
