COAST CITIES — The San Dieguito Alliance for Drug Free Youth has distributed a graduation and summer safety bulletin to coincide with the end of the school year, and its many landmark celebration events such as graduations and end-of-year parties.
“Unfortunately, graduation season is when San Diego communities see an increase in underage drinking,” said Nancy Logan of the SDADF. “Alcohol is a leading factor in the top four causes of death among youth: car crashes, drowning, suicides and homicides. Let us all work together to prevent these joyous occasions from being marred by alcohol related tragedies.”
San Dieguito Alliance, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, and San Dieguito Union High School District are reminding adults that providing teens with alcohol is against the law as is hosting underage drinking parties. Adults who ignore these responsibilities can face mandatory fines under the Social Host Ordinance.
“Remember that one bad decision can cause a lifetime of consequences,” Logan said. “We promise, you will never regret making the safe choice, the sober choice, and the drug free choice. Have a happy, healthy, summer.”
