Detectives looking for leads in theft of rare car

RANCHO SANTA FE — San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego Police Department’s Auto Theft Unit are asking for assistance from the public to help locate a stolen vehicle and identify and locate the unknown suspects involved in the theft. 

Detectives said that sometime during the last three weeks unknown suspects broke into a home in Rancho Santa Fe and stole a rare, limited edition, 2005 Ford GT valued at about $250,000. It was equipped with a 5.4 liter supercharged engine worth about $40,000. There were only 4,038 of these cars built.

The car is blue with white stripes.

Anyone with information on the location of the vehicle and/or identity and location of the suspect(s) should call the SDPD Auto Theft Unit at (619) 533-5710 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at (888) 580-8477. Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 reward to anyone with information that leads to an arrest in this case. Anonymous email and text messages can be sent in via sdcrimestoppers.com.

For information leading to an arrest, you could receive up to a $1,000 reward and remain anonymous. The qualification of any person(s) for the reward and the amount of the reward for any person(s) so qualifying will be determined by San Diego County Crime Stoppers, Inc, in its sole discretion. The amount of all rewards given shall not exceed $1,000. Information must be received on the tip line, (888) 580-8477.
