Deputies conduct DUI checkpoint in Encinitas

ENCINITAS – From approximately 8 p.m. Aug. 30 into the early morning hours Aug. 31, deputies from the Encinitas Sheriff’s station conducted a DUI/driver’s license checkpoint on the 1200 block of Coast Highway 101. 

Three people were arrested during the event for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, 14 people were cited for driver’s license violations and six vehicles were impounded out of the 618 total vehicles that went through the checkpoint.

The checkpoint was set up as part of the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign during the Labor Day weekend.
