ENCINITAS — On April 29, Tina Wasserman, specializing in contemporary kosher cuisine, will headline an evening at Temple Solel as part of its Shabbat Synaplex.
The evening’s lineup is as follows:
— From 6 to 7 p.m. Shabbat Dinner prepared with recipes from Wasserman’s new cookbook “Entrée to Judaism.” (This dinner is optional at the cost of $18 per adult, and $9 per child)
— From 6 to 7 p.m. Israeli Wine Tasting with a variety of wines and appetizers. You must be 21 years old or over to participate. (This event is optional at a cost of $12 per adult.
— From 7 to 7:30 p.m., Challah making for ages 3 to 10 with Wasserman.
— From 7 to 8 p.m., Erev Shabbat Service with the Temple musical band Kol Echad.
— From 7 to 9 p.m., Kids Klub with games for children ages 7 and up.
— From 7 to 9 p.m., Adult Game Night with foosball, air hockey and pool tables.
— From 8 to 9 p.m. Wasserman will speak and share many stories and recipes of the great Diaspora communities. Desserts featured in Wasserman’s book will be served during her talk.
Wasserman’s presentation is just part of Temple Solel’s unique multi-track Shabbat Synaplex. This evening will be centered around food, fun, family and faith.
You may participate in any or all of the scheduled activities. Complimentary child care for children ages 2 through 6 will be provided from 7 until 9 p.m.
Wasserman is only one of four members of Les Dames d’Escoffier, an international culinary society, honored as an expert in Jewish cooking and culinary history. In her latest book, “Entrée to Judaism, Wasserman leads a culinary journey around the world and across the ages, from Spain to India, from Russia to Tunisia.
